Bendigo Hills is a project from the esteemed mofo fave, Rock Ferry, who are based in Central Otago, sourcing fruit from the Bendigo subregion. This complex pinot is lush with dark berries and gaminess, mushrooms and dried herbs. It’s got this concentrated palate that’s beautifully weighted, the kind that makes you go “aaaah” after a glass. Full of fruit, complemented by fine tannins and boasting solid length.

This is one of the most exciting Mornington pinots we’ve had at the ‘fo. Last vintage of this stunner from Sea Glass had the whole Dealer Team humming with enthusiasm. The fruit and winemaking is just THAT good. It really is a stunning wine: quite Burgundian in style - a touch lighter, not quite as plush as many New World examples, and with bags of vibrant acidity that guarantees good ageing. The flavour there is unmistakably Mornington, we’re talking redcurrants and cranberry, with a spicy edge and a trademark salinity that speaks of a region with the sea on three sides. The delicate fruit sweetness hints of grenadine cordial, but any fruit juice notions are reigned in immediately by impressively powdery tannin and a speckling of spice. This wine is built to age and will do so extraordinarily well. Serious pinot for lovers of wine as an art form as much as simply good drinking.

Rüdger van Wyk grew up in a small town along the Karatara river, three hours outside of Cape Town. He caught the wine bug from his older brother, a winemaker, and inherited a love of all things gardening from his father. The 2018 Diner’s Club Young Winemaker of the Year draws inspiration from Burgundy when crafting his wines, sourcing fruit from a variety of cool climate growers. This pinot comes from three vineyards, located in Elgin, Overberg and Durbanville. It’s classic strawberry and cherry up front, with peppery spice and a touch of toast from some time in oak. There’s also about 20% whole bunch fermenting here, adding a lovely herbal element to the wine. We’re extremely excited to offer Rüdger’s wines for the first time in Australia. Don’t miss your chance to check out a rising star in the South African wine scene.

Yarra Valley pinot noir has become an international phenomenon in the past 20 years. Sunshine Creek have recognised just how well this wine travels across the globe, and have made this wine in a more ‘international’ style. So what does that mean? It’s silky smooth, a little fuller in fruit (think black cherries and strawberries) and buttressed with a hints of earthiness and cola. This isn’t sitting on the funky end of the pinot spectrum, but rather the elegant end. Easy drinking and ultimately enjoyable - something that appeals in every corner of the world.

MacArthur Ridge is a 20-year old vineyard with exceptional drainage located just north of Alexandra and between the Mata-Au and Manuherikia Rivers in Central Otago. Southern Tor references a hilly outcrop towards the south end of the vineyard, the source for this wine. The grapes were harvested by hand and even after seven years, exhibit bright primary fruit characters in the wine. Think plums, cherries and strawberries. Of course those secondary notes have also sprung forward with a bit of char, dried herbs and mushrooms. There’s a nice mineral line as well, finishing off what is a complete expression of Otago pinot with some age on it.

Organic French pinot noir for under $20 a bottle? Hell yeah! If you are looking for a mid-week, light on its feet, bright and full-of-fruit wine - this is the one for you. From high altitude organic vineyards and a mix of soils, this one is pure pinot goodness - fresh from the 2020 vintage, onto a ship and into your mouth! Only the tiniest smidge of oak was used in the winemaking process, so the fruit is the star - ripe strawberries, puckering red currants and a touch of spice. Not a wine to overthink, but a wine to simply enjoy.
