Why do we love this case?

This bomb of a case goes from juicy-fresh to seriously savoury. From a glorious mix of mild and warm climates, there’s a red in here for every occasion. Bright and floral to big and bold, these reds are ANYTHING but simple.

Each case contains TWO of each of the following:

Five Star Halliday Rated Winery
Mofo Fave

When one of our favourite winemakers in the King Valley asks us to come around and taste a few bottles, we come running. John Stokes from Wood Park is a gun with the usual suspects from the region - sangiovese, pinot grigio and, of course, prosecco - but also one of the few that makes shiraz and cabernet fit to stand alongside some of that nation’s best. This classic Aussie blend is medium-bodied, bright, ripe with plum and cassis, and finishes with fine, fine tannins.

Sam Kim

Glendale sources this wine from a couple of vineyards in Coonawarra and Wrattonbully, both regions famous for their epic reds. It’s a firm style of full-bodied shiraz, whose flavour comes for the perfectly ripe grapes and also an 18-month maturation in both American and French oak. You can expect all the hallmarks of the grape - red berries, plum and a touch of pepper, backed up by tannin and cedar notes from the oak treatment. It’s not a shy wine, but not too boisterous either.

New to the 'Fo

Konrad sourced their Hole in the Water pinot noir from the Wairau Valley of Marlborough, fermented the grapes with indigenous yeast and rested the wine in French oak for about 9 months. It has Marlborough’s typical cherry and strawberry pinot profile with a little gentle spice and oak behind it to complete the wine. So reward yourself for a day of hard work, you’ve earned it.

Explosively juicy fruits abound on the palate; crunchy herbs and tangy bitter orange add complexity. It’s the kind of wine to drink whether you quaff it from a wine glass or a mug. It’s still the same devilishly delicious experience every time. Medium-bodied with heaps of fruit, a nice bit of spice and bit of Iberian exoticism.

Nero d’Avola is without a doubt one of the jewels in the Sicilian winemaking crown. Light to medium bodied, bright, fresh and fruity, it’s laden with dark berries and spine-tingling spices. Sicily’s warm climate is tempered by both the Mediterranean Sea and the volcanic elevation, ensuring it never gets too hot and the grapes retain a lovely acidity. It’s absurdly easy-drinking. We warn you, a glass of this often spills over into a long, languorous antipasto lunch on a sun-drenched terrace. You may never get any work done again, but who cares when ‘la vita è così bella’?

Deep

Five-year-old Coonawarra red from Hollick? Yes please! The Tannery Block is from the 1970s/80s planting of cabernet and merlot (cab dominant). The wine has all the depth you'd expect from older, established vines. The cabernet tannins have mellowed a bit and the fruit is developing a savoury age. Great drinking for the next few years.
